Kanab all around the world

Soak up some sun. Snap up opportunities. Be a colourful character. Appreciate stillness. Keep a low profile. Shed your old ways. Be dashing.
— Kanab the lizard

If you didn’t know, BlueHour has a mascot. His name is Kanab - (Kay-Nub) - he’s a toy life-size Collared Lizard that we bring with us on all of our travels. We adopted him in Kanab, (Kuh-NAB) Utah, while in line for the lottery for the Wave & Coyote Buttes hiking permits. Since early 2017, Kanab has traveled with us for thousands of miles, on the road and in the air, and has experienced quite a lot for a lizard. Here are some of our favorite memories with him so far.

We adopted Kanab as a donation toward reptile conservation in the Southwest. We’re nearly sure he’s the most well-traveled lizard of all his brothers, sisters and cousins. Our first trip together was all around Arizona. We had a lot of fun with him in the slot canyons.

Aside from out west, Kanab has also been to various countries in Scandinavia, most notably the Faroe Islands.

He’s also been to Iceland. Kanab loved it so much, he was almost left there by accident. It was only after we had driven off with our full group of photo tour goers that we realized he was still by the falls — we had to go back and save him!

Kanab has also made two trips to Yellowstone National Park, and this year, he got to see the Tetons.
