Ireland: The Whirlwind Photo Tour of the Wild Atlantic Way

We did it! We finally made it back to Ireland, with a group of some of our favorite photographers in tow. This trip was our most anticipated after scouting it in 2019. Take a look at some of the photographic highlights!

We spent the first couple of days exploring Northern Ireland and the Antrim Coast. This part is actually in the UK - and most known for it’s rugged landscape and filming locations for popular series like Game of Thrones. We were gifted with a beautiful sunrise for our sunrise shoot here.

It’s typical to rain each day - even if just a little bit. The whole week we were in Ireland it was never pouring. It made for some interesting photo conditions. The cloud cover proved perfect for our exploration of this extremely old Friary.

After the Antrim coast, we made the long drive to the western part of Ireland. We explored Killarney, The Ring of Kerry, County Clare and Dingle!

This shot is from Barrow Beach, where part of Ryan’s Daughter was filmed. One of our clients was very pleased to visit here!

Have you really seen Ireland until you’ve visited The Cliffs of Moher?? We gave everyone a few hours to walk the coast as they pleased. Myself and Paul walked toward a lesser-trafficked area and was rewarded with this grand perspective.

Some shots of Cobh Cathedral, and the water below the Cliffs. The patterns from the waves were just beautiful.

One of our favorite stops is this forest. It doesn’t look like the rest of Ireland - and it looks like you ought to find Leprechauns here!

This viewpoint is from the Slea Head Drive. We were so happy to see some spring blooms popping up!

If you visit Ireland and want something truly different and ‘weird’ make sure to visit The Burren. It is not at all what you’d expect - limestone rocks and cracks in the Earth abound, making for some very untraditional photography.

The grand viewpoint from Dingle - our favorite seaside town in Ireland. This is the “Sheeps highway” where sheep are herded off the ferrys from the Blasket Islands. We stayed for a cloudy sunset and blue hour.

Below are some photos of our travelers in action. We hope to have you join us in Ireland in the future!!
